Training at UCLPartners (A trainee representatives perspective)

UCLP runs core dental training posts across London which include rotations through a vast array of dental disciplines: general duties, community dentistry, paediatrics, dental public health, maxfax and restorative to name a few. I am currently completing Core Dental Training 1 (once known as DF2) which combines working in the CDS (including weekly adult and child GA sessions) with a rotation through several dental departments at a London dental hospital (dental emergency clinic, oral surgery, oral medicine and restorative clinic).

Through your training you will acquire the skills and knowledge to manage more complex patients and treatments, improve your communication and team working skills as well as work on enhancing your portfolio. There are weekly evening seminars run by senior clinicians and hands-on practical courses which help prepare you for the MFDS/MJDF examinations, and support for those who need it. All trainees are encouraged to complete a case presentation, an audit or quality improvement project as well as get involved in research and publications.

Training at UCLP provides a huge opportunity to anyone wishing to further their skills in a certain specialty or gain more general experience at a post graduate level to plan your future career.
